I’m not just talking about tunes that everyone loves to hear at old school / classics / anthems nights.  I mean tunes that are continually being remixed and re-released, appealing to a new audience every time.

While researching this piece, I found that some of these favourites are even older than I thought they were!

This post is just a bit of music trivia – this is by no means a full history of any of the tracks listed.
1) Toca’s Miracle

Did you know… a single called I Need A Miracle by Coco Star was released back in 1996.

A few years later in 1999, German producers Fragma released a little tune called Toca Me, which people quite liked all over Europe and it even got to number 11 in the UK charts.

The following year, Fragma decided they weren’t quite done with that catchy little track and mashed up Toca Me with, yes you’ve guessed it, I Need A Miracle.  A dance anthem was born.

A 2008 re-release kept Toca’s Miracle on rotation around the commercial dancefloors, but the hardstyle fans amongst you will of course be hanging out for the Bioweapon remix!

2) Touch Me

An absolute anthem released by Rui Da Silva in 2001, with vocals by Cassandra Fox.

Tiesto and a few other people have had a tinker with this one over the years, but an official cover version was released by Paul Oakenfold in 2014 as part of his Trance Mission covers album.  Oakenfold commissioned Cassandra Fox to re-do the vocals.

There’s then a whole bunch of remixes of Oakenfold’s cover version on his Perfecto label (are you keeping up?) but the notable version you’ll probably be hearing around Sydney is the Beat Service remix, on Armada.

3) You Got The Love

Originally recorded by American soul singer Candi Station

In 1991, You Got The Love got all mixed up with Your Love by Frankie Knuckles and found its way to the UK top ten

The Source remixes dropped into the charts in 1997 and 2006, meanwhile, You Got The Love found its way on to the world's harder dancefloors thanks to Hyperlogic

Just as maybe we'd forgotten all about You Got The Love for a couple of years, along came Florence & The Machine in 2009! Amazing vocal - much lower bpm!

Of course, that Hyperlogic version was just too good to leave laying in the archives at Tidy, so along came the Steve Hill & Technikal remix

4) Pump Up The Jam

I jumped around the school disco to this little tune when it was released in 1989

Then I stomped around the club to this one sometime around 2008

5) Loops & Tings

Not sure if you know this one?  Oh you do, it’s unique and it’s catchy and it’s everywhere.

The original was by a producer called Jens, released in 1993.  Not a girl called Jenny; a German guy called Jens.

Marco V got his hands on it in 2009

Things (tings?) got hardened the f*ck up by Zatox & Tatanka in 2010

Then Ferry Corsten & Marcus Schultz got in on the act in 2012

Honourable mentions should also go to....

Sandstorm
- currently enjoying a renaissance for its 15th anniversary and getting thoroughly overused in Peking Duck live shows.  If you still can’t get enough, Darude is now coming to Australia to drop Sandstorm for you in person at Future Music.

And finally, of course, Born Slippy - of which there are no notable re-works, because you simply can't improve on timeless perfection.
