On thebigsmoke.com.au today, my 2 cents about recent A-League supporters dramas..
http://thebigsmoke.com.au/2014/03/08/smoke-signal-supporters-heart-hyundai-league/ There’s a saying often quoted to young children who speak their mind - “if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all”. Maybe this good advice should be written into a sign-up pledge for users of social media services. There’s a reason why facebook doesn’t have the much demanded ‘dislike’ button. Why do we, human society, enjoy violent forms of entertainment? We all have different limits, and I consider my own tolerance level to be quite low, but even so I have always enjoyed classic style murder mystery novels and TV shows.
As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I don’t watch a lot of films, so when I do go to look for a DVD to rent I’m always amazed at the high proportion of films where the main focus of the entertainment is violence. *Warning – this is a serious post about something on The News. Whether or not you have had any personal involvement with the immigration system, chances are if you watch The News on any channel you’ve heard of the 457 visa scheme. Every so often, politicians will take aim at the 457 visa scheme as a cheap way to score points on the topic of immigration. |
